At the start of 2012, Mancroft International formed a new division to its organisation – ‘Mancroft Sport Mindset Management’, which is headed up by Ray Brown, a Presenter for Mancroft and Roger Munby, Chairman of Norwich City FC 2002 – 2009.
Ray and Roger have taken The Winning Edge philosophy and applied it to the sporting world to enable sportspeople to use Winning Edge concepts and methodologies to reach new heights in their chosen competitive field.
Initially, Mancroft Sport worked with two Premier League Footballers, Elliot Bennett and Steve Morrison. Then in May 2012, the first Mancroft Sports Mindset Management Programme was delivered and attended by ex-professional football and rugby players. Amongst them were, Glen Remnant, now Head Coach at Cambridge Rugby Union Football Club and Leon McKenzie, a Norwich City FC legend.
Glen was so inspired by what he experienced, he approached Ray to become ‘Mindset Manager’ for the club, a position he gladly accepted. Most recently, Ray and Roger have worked with Russ Martin, Barclays Premier League & International Player and Mike Watts, Performance Coach for Aston Villa FC.
It’s been an incredible year with fantastic results, as the following endorse:

I would like firstly to personally thank both Roger and Ray for time and positive support, helping me in working to professionalise an amateur rugby club. During my time as a professional rugby player, I found the psychological aspect of sport to be intriguing and of course, integral to success. Unfortunately it is an area where teams neglect to spend time training or developing.
As a coach, it was an area that I want to tap into. Mancroft Sports’ refreshing and positive approach in “Mindset Management” was exciting and inspiring. As some know, it is the ‘top two inches’ that determine what we achieve in life, making young athletes aware of this helps them develop to their fullest potential, without limitations.
I am looking forward to seeing your programme integrated into other sports, knowing these individuals/teams will benefit from the edge that your programme gives.
Russell Martin, Professional Premiership & International Footballer
I attended Mancroft’s Winning Edge Programme during the course of last season and for me it is the most worthwhile thing I have done to help me progress at this stage in my career. I know it will continue to help me as I try and improve as a player and also have a positive effect on my life in general.
As footballers, we are always trying to physically improve and maintain a high level of fitness but rarely do we train on the mental side of the game. I have always been interested in this and knew that Attitude is so important in sport, particularly at the top level. I had my views before embarking on this programme but I didn’t realise how much I underestimated the effect attitude has on performance.
After working with Ray and Roger, I now know the huge influence my thinking has on my attitude and how much impact it can have on my performance. They explained everything really well and made me see the things I can improve on very clearly. They have provided me with the techniques to help me achieve everything I want to as a player and in my career once I retire. I have found their Goal Setting methods extremely helpful and they have given me a renewed sense of vigour and belief in myself and in my goals. I am now more in control of my approach to games and training and I can feel the improvement on and off the pitch.
I wish I was aware of Mancroft’s Winning Edge Programme at the start of my career as a professional footballer. I feel it is something that would benefit every young person aspiring to reach the top of their chosen sport. I am grateful I’ve had the chance to participate in the programme and would recommend it to everyone old and young who wants to improve their performance.
Mike Watts, Performance Coach, Aston Villa FC
Attending Mancroft Sport’s Mindset Management programme taught me the importance of understanding how I think about situations in both my social and work life. It has given me focus, through understanding how to set, evaluate and work toward goals and the confidence to improve my self-image, through understanding the part my attitude (mindset) plays in my performance.
I have adopted many of the techniques I learnt on the programme to exceptional effect and I will continue to use the skills I have learnt to consistently improve and develop myself. If you are serious about self-development and want to feel motivated and in control of your thoughts and want to give your life (even more) direction, then Mancroft Sport’s Mindset Management programme is a formidable place to start.
You will discover revelatory things about yourself and understand why you act and behave in a certain way(s) toward yourself and others. This has enabled me to improve my relationships with colleagues, friends and family. I especially have used my new found knowledge within my role as a Performance Coach, insomuch as handling the nuances of Professional Footballers when it comes to the discipline required for, injury recovery, strength coaching, etc. I have also seen the performance of players, who have attended the programme, improve on (and off) the pitch and have heard these players say how it has impacted their all round performance.
‘A dream is a goal with a date on it’ and I have many dreams, which I will achieve through knowing how to get there thanks to this programme. Thank you Ray and thank you Mancroft Sport for giving me the tools to take greater control of my life.
Leon McKenzie, Professional Boxer, Singer Songwriter, Ex-Professional Footballer
I have gained great confidence and direction from completing the Mancroft Sport’s Mindset Management programme. I see myself in a different way now, my mind renewed, naturally eliminating the bad habits I had and controlling and driving my emotions to put me in a more successful position, to the point where my persona is much calmer and relaxed, but buzzing with excitement as I work towards my goals. My habits (good) now become actions and my actions now become my successes, because I’ve changed my thinking style, I no longer think about failing, I realise I have the power to make the changes needed to get somewhere better and that’s called WINNING!”
Elliot Bennett, Current Premier League Midfield Player
I attended Mancroft’s Winning Edge programme last season and have to say it was a fantastic investment of my time. As a player, it was really great getting to understand the massive part your thinking plays in your attitude and then how much attitude influences your performance. It was really eye-opening and had a really positive impact on my season. Of course the Team benefited too. Now I approach each day with an expectation of success knowing that I have total control over the way I think and feel about things. I am convinced that through The Winning Edge my approach to my game improved, which was reflected in my performances. It also has a massive impact on my life in general and I recommend it to anybody within sport.
Mancroft Sport Mindset Management is an exciting venture for all involved and we wonder just how long it will be before we see ‘Gold Medal’ success being attributed to The Winning Edge Philosophy…
